Keeping it Clean over the Holidays

Stephanie Smith

Firstly, lets start with saying... its the HOLIDAYS, so relax, don't be overly stressed about staying in a strict routine. 'Tis the season to treat yourself, but that also doesn't mean go mental... because theres nothing worse than falling completely out of routine and having to go through the long process of getting back into a routine in the new year. So you stuffed your face on Christmas? So what, everyone did. Over the holidays, just do your best to chose your best and healthiest options where available. As for exercise, even if you're away from home and without a gym there is always somewhere you can exercise. Even if its as simple as going for a walk or a run, keep active. Our workouts on the 'Lean" section of this website are perfect examples of ways you can get your body moving anywhere and without equipment.

Tips over summer to stay healthy.

  • Try and move everyday in anyway. If you can fit a 45 min workout in, epic, if not.. do whatever you can. Or as it's the holidays, try something fun and new. Rock climbing, a bike ride with friends, swimming in the ocean or a pool, water sports, bounce (trampolining) are all good examples of fun activities that still get your muscles moving.
  • Snack on fruit not chips. Chips are great, but they're not an everyday snack, they're a treat yourself snack. I find personally over the summer the best thing to snack on is fruit. Not only does fruit taste amazing in summer, but if you eat them whole (and don't juice them) they're packed with great nutrients that will keep you full of energy and keep that tummy of yours smiling.
  • Don't go overboard with alcohol. Sure 'tis the season to be silly, but if you're anything like me, alcohol just makes me crave bad food... both that night and the next day. Also alcohol is incredibly dehydrating, so make sure you have a glass of water between each drink. Now I am certainly not saying stay away from alcohol... because it's the holidays hahaha, just don't go crazy.
  • Keep tuning in to Keep It Cleaner! We have plenty of awesome tasty recipes that you can make over the holidays. Some people complain that they don't have enough time to cook each day, well now it's the holidays so no excuses! Get in the kitchen and eat clean! Try not to eat out everyday.
  • Stay Happy. Im happy when I'm healthy, but I'm not happy when I'm being too strict. So give yourself some slack and enjoy yourself these holidays. Keep it Clean by staying within a balanced diet.

We Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
